E.J. & L.S.J.
E.J. Gold (harmonica), Justin Lowis (drums), Aja Salvatore (guitar), Isaac James (bass)
E.J. & L.S.J. -- E.J. plays sax and harmonica with these 3 young inspired jazz musicians. Half the cuts are on the calibre of jazz standards i.e. Sunny by Bobby Hebb, Blue in Green by Miles Davis, Footprints by Wayne Shorter, Blue Bossa by Kenny Dorham and Naima by John Coltrane -- songs all have heard and may not have known their titles. For those who have had the fortune to come to the Institute, this is the elusive jazz CD you may have heard but was never available, until now.

Galaxians
Zaphod & the Alien Allstars
Slinky, bluesy jazz from another music portal in
the time-space continuum. Just glide on through
this moody room of Galaxian tunes, turn up the
volume and move! Rotate to the left and slide to
the right, sink into the floor and float on up.
Hey, it's easy. Just leave your mind on hold and
let the rest go. This CD is a fantastic musical
adventure into the more plasma nature of things.
And, by the way, if you do end up merging with a
wall or a couch or some other such thing, simply
unstick yourself when the CD is over and bring it
on home for another day.

Blue Smoke...is it a vision of glowing ashes
rising like the Phoenix from the dust of
long-forgotten TV dramas? It is the second-hand
coffin nail from the elbow next to yours in that
darkened room where someone croons to no

No Bread Lotsa Jam
Accardi/Gold & Friends
R&B slide and slither featuring some very heavy
duty guitar licks and glides. This is old time
rock at its best -- definitely dance music and I
do mean boogey-woogey rock and roll. So sashay on
down to a R&B jam that will stick to your ribs.
This CD is really fun. Upbeat, bright and bouncy.

Miles From the Dead
The Cool Jazz Ensemble
Percussion at its best. What began as an
impromptu jam session, metamorphosed into an
elegant ensemble of sound. Rhythmic, pulsing,
sinuous...this very talented group of musicians
add their expertise with a variety of musical
tools from traditional drums and percussion to
totally hi-tech industrial digeridoos and homemade
horns. The result is a hypnotically rhythmic
pastiche whose beat begins in your toes and then
travels all the way up your body until you just
have to dance.

Thanks to all those who enriched our lives with
the tales of theirs. It was Donald Byrd who
explained to me how to get the most out of my
instrument -- "Your ax is your voice, it's how you
sing." And in the words of Norma Dolores Egstrom "I would pay to play this role!"

A stellar ride into a musical sphere that defies your current concepts of musical reality. Here's an exercise. I'd like you to do. Buy the CD, take a quality work of visual art, turn on the CD, clear your mind and journey into the art using this music as a guide. When you're done, go outside and sit with your back against an extremely old tree in order to ground yourself. Have a nice trip.

The Last Set at the Rembrandt Room
Bob Canatsey Quintet
The Last Set at the Rembrandt Room is one
of my favorite albums. I remember what it was
like recording the album in the early '90's. We
didn't have an engineer at the time so I miked up
all the instruments live and ran all the sound
through a mix board directly into the video camera
because we were also video taping. Bob Bachtold
showed up early in the morning with his drums and
Bob Canatsey soon afterwards with his saxophone.
E.J. Gold and I joined them and we played
everything live over the course of the day and
into the night...
